The Leys Primary School was awarded the British Dyslexia Association’s Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark in June 2016. This award is in recognition of the school’s efforts to promote excellent practice in the support of children with specific learning difficulties. In order to gain the award the school needed to evidence excellent practise in order to meet the rigorous standards in four areas; Leadership and Management, Quality of Learning, Climate for Learning and Partnership with Concerned Parties. The main school worked closely with staff in the on-site SpLD base to promote awareness and provide training, resources, adjustments, support and guidance for staff, Governors, parents and children in best practice. This work is still on-going through our current staff induction, consistency in classroom environments and the resources. We know that good practice for those struggling to learn helps to support all our children to achieve their best.
